Good greetings! A very warm welcome to those who has clicked stepping into this blog of mine. This blog is first created for assignment purpose for the unit Web Communication 101. Everyone in class is to choose a topic of something that relates and connects to an individual, thus, this is how the topic “Ultimate Frisbee” comes about. In this page, it talks about the exegesis or in other words, the decisions that I have made in creating the assignment which is the web presence creation assignment.
Firstly, the question pops up: Among all the sports, why Ultimate Frisbee? I started playing Ultimate Frisbee two years ago, and this two short years, Ultimate Frisbee has stirred a passion in my heart and made me grow into an Ultimate Frisbee player. Along the step of the way, Ultimate Frisbee continues to bring the best out of me that I never knew.
I may not be known as one of the strongest Ultimate Frisbee player, but my purpose of creating this topic as my blog, is not only because it relates to me, but I also want to change the assumption of what most people tend to think of in Ultimate Frisbee. The reason why is because most of the time I asked what Frisbee is, the highest possible answer received is “It’s a game that is played between two people, throwing and catching a Frisbee disc.”
However, that is not the real meaning and the game of Ultimate Frisbee. It is more than just throwing and catching. In this blog, every posts will bring readers to take one step closer in exploring this sports. From the true definition of Ultimate Frisbee to the different kinds of tactics and strategies you can do while playing this sports.
In such context, I have selected in using the blogger as my way of communicating and informing the audience the objectives and details of my selected topics. The background of my layout is a picture of different thumbs gripping on the rim of the Frisbee plate. To me, Ultimate Frisbee is one of sports that portray teamwork and the spirit of the game. As we can see, the thumbs in the picture, portrays the different players that forms a team united as one. The Frisbee plate in the picture signifies the unity of the team.
My three contributing nodes used in the blog is Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter. I used such contributing nodes, because I am more connected in these web 2.0 platforms that was mentioned. Firstly, the reason that I chose Facebook is that because right now, Facebook is considered one of the most widely used social network in the world and allows to reach out to the social networks through the Facebook newsfeed of the individual (Nemsow, n.d.).
Twitter is also a form of blogging popularly used as a social network globally. The reason why this network is such a popular tool is because in the world of twitter, when a user shares about the information, this click changes everything, as the followers of the user will share it with their own followers (Gross, 2011). As a result of this, I have selected Twitter as a form of contributing nodes so that the blog can be shared among the followers in my web platform.
Last but not least, I have used Tumblr as part of my contributing nodes is because Tumblr is also a growing social media river to the society of the world. Tumblr is considered as a type of blogging wheredifferent of multimedia information such as text, images, quotes, links, chat, music and videos can be uploaded (Mahola, N.d.). Not only is this, in Tumblr, the followers of the user able to repost the picture that is found. In my blog, there are varieties of pictures that I have captured by myself, which is able to repost by the Tumblr. With the followers reposting, they are able to know the information and inside of the extraordinary of the blog.
All these three contributing nodes, it reflects the personality of the topic of the blog. In a way, Facebook is known as to be a popular social network, thus, the theme of the blog is able to relate the existing contacts of Facebook that shares the same topic. Through here, there is no need of searching for the related interest in the search engines, but can easily be found through this web platform. Likewise, Twitter plays the same role as Facebook which allows the followers to share the related interests among one another. However, Tumblr in a way reflects the same thing, but the images of the layout that is portrayed in the blog, is able to reflect and relate the followers of Tumblr.
The reason why I used blogger is because blogger is the easiest publication among other web platform. This is because blogger is one of the basic foundations of blogging which provides easy tools for the user to access and to link to other blog. Not only that, because of the use of the contributing nodes that I have linked to the blogger, the followers in the nodes can access into my blog and can comment in the different posts that I have collected and posted. The content of my blog is able to link those followers and existing contacts in the contributing nodes, that has shared the common interest, thus, bringing all together as one to share their own comments and thoughts. This proves how impactful and powerful the social media can be.
